Bye bye summertime…

Well, like it or not, our summer holidays are over and the new school year has just begun. I hope you had a great time and lots of opportunities to chill out the way you like most. For me, this summer was really full of adventures and I really had no time to feel bored. I also managed to make some of my dreams come true, and have plenty of unforgettable memories…For those of you who know me, it’s not hard to guess what I did most of the time. Yes, mountains:) As a  total mountain maniac, I took every opportunity to climb rocks and glaciers, go trekking, reach the summits I’d dreamed of. I feel I’ve made the most of the summer this year, and now I feel ready to start the school year.

Some people, looking at the way I spend my free time, express something close to a swell of pity: ‘How come you prefer getting so tired instead of chilling out on the beach?’ Well, I really cannot explain. Ryszard Pawłowski, a Polish mountaineer and climber, once said: “Mountains are intoxicating. It’s incurable. You can get over alcoholism, drug addiction, pill popping. Yet you cannot stop being fascinated with mountains.”

I wonder if there are any mountain freaks among you. Or maybe there are some other sports or passions you cannot imagine your life without? I’d be happy to read about it in the comments below.

  1. As you said, most of the people like to chill on the beach. I’m in love with beaches too, but I appreciate it in other ways. Well, it’s not chilling out for sure, because I despise sitting still in one place for a long time and I’m addicted to adrenaline and extreme sports. So while you are climbing mountains I’m climbing big waves on my surfboard or catching wind by windsurfing or kite surfing.

  2. I also spent my holidays very actively. Horse riding is my hobby, so I helped as a volunteer in my stable all summer. From morning to evening outside, walking, running and riding. However, for a week I went to the Polish sea, but I do not like it. Cold water and wind are not my vibes. After all, I quickly returned to my stable duties.

  3. Most people actually don’t like sports, cause – like you said – it makes you feel tired and exhausted, but I think they just don’t get it. I’m a winter sports fan, so when the winter comes I always come to the local ice rink and skate till an hour passes. It makes me feel free and I forget about all my worries. Maybe it’s not as thrilling as mountain climbing but I still think this is a great activity for free time.

  4. I can’t attribute myself to any one type, In summer I like spending time at sea, lying down, sunbathing, diving with a mask and exploring the underwater world, I can even get beautiful shells from the bottom of the sea. Also, I can’t imagine winter without snowboarding. Every year I go with my family to the mountains, to different countries, such as: Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovakia, and we ski and snowboard together. It seems to me that such various kinds of sports charge not only physical energy but also emotional energy.

To be ready for the new school year or work, we can not forget about our passions and goals.
Mountains, the sea can be a stepping stone from everyday life.
When I go to the sea, I feel a flow of fresh, new energy to life.
In my opinion, however, every vacation must end one day because when they last forever we stop appreciating them and enjoying them.
